if it is not possible in portugal to get an admission for a self-mounted engine,i would recommend you to buy a car, that has the german admission.i suppose that you won`t have problems in this case.i recommend to contact your local admission authority.

Thank you for your kindess. In my contry i can not put a 2.0l into a Corsa and be legal. They will never accept that car. What i want to do is get a Corsa with German license plate, transplante the engine from a Calibra, get that engine on the registration (if that is possible in german) and then bring the car to Portugal. Here they have to accept the car because German Opel did. If i want to change the engine, the best i can do in Portugal is get the 1.6 from another Corsa A and do the transplante. Other engines will not be accepted. Do Opel in German accepts other engines? Can i make a 2.0l Corsa A legal in German?

Our admission authorites in generell do accept translations of that kind. Opel Germany does not support or accept 2,0l in corsa. But of course you can make a 2,0l Corsa legal in Germany. You don´t need permission from Opel. Ich would suggest, you´d buy a corsa 2,0l that was already legal in Germany, as freakxxl already said.

hi, maybe you find a ready transplated 2.0l in a corsa, use the search at www.mobile.de or www.faircar.de or www.autoscout24.de

The diference is that in Portugal all changes have to be permited by Opel... If the car is already a 2.0l i bring it to Portugal and they have to accept so i would be legal!
Thank you a lot for your explanations! Just one more thing: What do you have to do in Germany to have the autorization from the Autorities? Any tests? Or just pay the taxes for a bigger engine and change the insurence?

normally you must have an expertise for that special engine in a corsa. this expertise is mostly owned by special firms, who have payed a lot of money to get this expertise, because there are many tests necessary to acqire it.but at some authorities it is possible to get an authorisation without the expertise, but this is really rare...so we have to pay about 250-300 euros for the authorisation...

G'day,
just wanted to say that this is wicked. Your all so helpfull even in english didnt think you lot had it in you
.
Oh i would buy the car here and drive it over then register it. I know that when you import a car from mainland europe into the UK you have to pay import tax and some other things. You will also have to transfer the papers for the car. Not impossible but it will take some time and effort!

TRUE...I have to pay around 1000 EUR to bring a 2.0l Corsa A to Portugal but if they catch me with the a car without the 2.0l engine in the papers they will take the car from me...so its always better for me...In the UK i think you can have a 2.0l Corsa Register.try ask on http://www.migweb.co.uk they might know...
So i understand that it doesnt matter who makes the engine transplante. You go there, they play around with the car, you pay 300 eur and its ready for legalization. Is this correct?

so it is...we go to the testing-authority and they check the converted car, probably a little test-drive and so on.then the engine will be registrated by the examiner.the base of this check is normally the expertise, but sometimes with much luck they don`t want the expertise..

Ok so im getting where i want. Now im going to start pushing my luck a little...
First of all, thank you! You all were very, very kind and help full!!
Second part of the questionaire is:
If i wanted a car taht is portuguese to be register in Germany what would i need? Probably a German adresse (that's easy for me), maybe a minimal time wait, and perhaps i need to present the cars to the autorithies...if thats not necessary it means i could register the car without going to germany with it!
This all thing is because i think it is more expensive to buy a 2.0 than register mine in germany...What you think?

Hello again,
ok to get a car registered on your name in germany you have to have an address here and be registered as living here. However you can if you dont live in germany get it registered on someone elses name.
Oh in the uk you can do just about anything and get it legal. I bet most have seen to gsi with 2engines and about 600hp.
regards hirty
