Batterie entlädt sich Ruhestrom=1,1A

Beitrag von bushtor »

Guten Tag!
Darf ich in Englisch schreiben? Ich bin Norweger...

A friend of mine asked me to check his Corsa. The battery is slowly drained when the car is parked, and I found the current draw to be around one ampère.

The filter heater relay clicks and engages as soon as the battery is connected, it draws a hundred milliamps or so. I disconnected it temporarily. In addition the triple info display lights up too and draws a bit current too. If I disconnect the relay and the info display the current draw drops to around 8 mA, which is acceptable...

There is no difference in current draw or lamps etc whether the ignition switch is in position 0 or 1, so I suspected there must be a stale connection between +batt and the ignition switch position 1 connection. However as the drain disappears when disconnecting the info display, does this mean that the problem is in the display module?

Second question, why does the filter heater relay click in as soon as the battery is connected? I thought that it should engage when the ignition switch is in position 2 only, please correct me if I'm wrong... Or is the filter heater relay only suppose to engage in very cold weather?

Thanks a LOT if someone with some Corsa circuit knowledge could pop in and discuss with me...

best regards

Tor

Hello Tor,

is it really a 1999 1,9 Diesel engine?
May you please check the engine type carefully.
It can be whether an 1,5l TD (X15DT/T4EC1) or an 1,7l D (X17D/4EE1) engine.

Have you already checked the error logs of the different electronic control units?
The ignition switch works as described in the manual?
The control lamp will go off after some seconds when the preheat of the engine had been finished?

For the mentioned types above the filter heater starts to work after "ignition". The filter heater starts to work at temperatures below +6°C and turns off at a temperature above +16°C.
